Beaufort, SC

Beaufort is one of the most beautiful towns in the Southeast, but lucky for visitors it's not crowded like Charleston and Savannah. If you are looking for a nice place to spend a few days consider Beaufort. Below are some pictures the Webmaster took with his family during the fall of 2009.

Things to do in Beaufort in a Weekend

If you only have a weekend, or a couple of days, to spend in Beaufort there are a few ways to get the most out of the area in the least amount of time. Of course, you should consider that Beaufort is a Beaufort Horse and Carriage Tourrelaxed place with a slower pace of life and rushing isn't recommended..

To see the town consider a horse and buggy tour. These are affordable and last about an hour for the basic ride. On tour you'll hear stories, learn history, and get up close and personal to the homes of Beaufort. On tour you'll be able to ask your guide questions and learn about South Carolina and the Low Country.

A favorite thing to do in any great town is to walk. If you are able, Beaufort is a great little place to walk on a cool morning or evening. The Spanish moss hangs from the live oaks hiding homes and secrets you would never find from the car.

For a portable guide to Beaufort get A Guide to Historic Beaufort,
South Carolina
. This handy book will show you things you would have missed and will make you feel like a local.

Get close to nature as God made it at Hunting Island State Park. About 20 minutes outside of town is
this beautiful and natural island.
