Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site
The 664 acre park is the site of the English’s first permanent settlement in
the Carolinas, near Charleston. When you visit Charles Town Landing you will
see archeological investigations, reconstructed buildings,
a 1670’s styled vegetable garden, as well as an 80 acre English
formal gardens showcasing thousands of azaleas, camellias
and live oaks. There is a colonial village and a replica
of the 17th century sailboat Adventure. There are also 7
miles of paved and unpaved trails that wind through the
marsh, an audio tours, as well as picnic areas and a natural habitat zoo.
