Fort Sumter National Monument Visitors Guide

The Civil War’s first battle, Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor is an imposing man-made island. While there you will see the historic exhibits and can listen to the National Park Service employees tell what it must have been like for the Union soldiers as they were trapped for 34 hours while Confederate troops attacked. As you tour the fort and visit the museum, be sure to check out the phenomenal view of Charleston.
