South Carolina Staycations

Charleston – perhaps one of South Carolina’s most renowned areas is historic Charleston. Known as a city of elegant homes, various antique shops, tree lined streets and much more. You can get a laid back tour as you ride in a horse drawn carriage, do some shopping in the Old City Market, tour the plantations and visit the plethora of museums and impressive architectural structures. When you are ready for a meal or a snack the choices range from benne wafers (sesame) at the Olde Colony Bakery; soups, sandwiches and desserts at Café Café or pub fare at Blind Tiger Pub. Charleston has many fine eateries – low country food at Carolina’s, Italian at Fulton Five, Seafood at the Barbadoes Room and barbeque from Sticky Fingers to name a few.

Summerville – Outside of Charleston, is this awe-inspiring town. During the summer you will see brightly colored gardens filled with azaleas, wisteria and camellias as you stroll the gently curving streets. Thanks to a city ordinance preventing cutting, many of the streets are lined by tall pines trees. The beautiful town is great for quiet weekend getaways.

Myrtle Beach – For a fun-packed staycation, grab your swimming gear and make waves at one the most popular beach areas of the east coast, Myrtle Beach. You can take in a show at Dixie Stampede Diner and Show, travel the countryside, swamps and more on the customized jeep tours at Carolina Safari, and play golf at the many miniature golf courses. On the other hand, if you want to saunter flower-lined paths amid towering oaks, spend a day at Brookgreen Gardens. If you love to shop, then Barefoot Landing is the place for you.

Santee Cooper Country – Come be rejuvenated as you visit the beautiful country roads, small towns, cotton fields and some of the largest freshwater fishing sites in the state. Favorite area attractions are Cypress Gardens, Fisheagle Adventure Tours, Francis Beidler Forest in Four Holes Swamp, Old Santee Canal Park and Swan Lake Iris Gardens.

Babymoons - For those that will be adding a new addition to the family soon a babymoon in South Carolina is an excellent escape. South Carolina has so many quiet and relaxing places, that also can be loads of fun, to spend your last days together before all hell breaks loose.
